Facilities
Earley Springs is a purpose-built school, designed with the needs of children with communication and interaction needs at the heart of the environment.
We know that the right environment can make a huge difference to how a child feels, communicates and learns. Our spaces have been carefully designed to give children opportunities to learn, play, explore and develop their independence in an environment where they feel safe and comfortable.
The school includes a range of specialist spaces, as well as dedicated indoor and outdoor areas. Children can access different environments throughout the day depending on the activities they are taking part in and what works best for them.
Classrooms designed around children's needs

Our classrooms have been designed to support children's individual needs, with additional spaces and facilities that help make the school environment comfortable and accessible.
Some of our classrooms have their own breakout space, which can be used for small group activities, 1:1 work or as a sensory space to support children with regulation.
Our Explorers and Discoverers classrooms each have a private toilet attached to the classroom, supporting children's personal care needs, comfort and developing independence.
Our Investigators pathway has its own separate toilet block, supporting children to develop their independence and confidence with personal care as they grow. This provides opportunities for children to practise their self-care skills in a setting that encourages increasing independence while ensuring support is available whenever needed.
Immersive room

Our immersive room is a flexible, multi-sensory space where children can explore light, colour, sound and movement. The state-of-the-art immersive technology allows for a range of interactive activities, including simulations that support independence and help pupils understand the world around them.
Soft play

Our unique soft play area gives children a safe space to be active, have fun and develop their physical skills. It also provides opportunities for children to play alongside one another, practise social skills and build confidence.
The space is also a valuable resource for supporting children who benefit from occupational therapy and physiotherapy, offering opportunities to develop gross motor skills, balance, coordination, body awareness and physical confidence through movement and play.
Outdoor area

Every classroom has direct access to an outdoor area, with covered spaces that can be used throughout the year. Our outdoor spaces gives children plenty of space to play, explore and learn outside.
Rubber flooring provides a practical surface for outdoor activities, while the covered areas give children opportunities to play and explore whatever the weather. These spaces lead out to a large grassed area, which includes a forest school.
Being outdoors provides valuable opportunities to develop physical skills, confidence and independence. Children can take part in structured activities, enjoy free play and explore their surroundings at their own pace.
Sensory room
Our sensory room is a calm space where children can take some time away from the busier school environment.
It has been designed to support children with their individual sensory needs and can be used to help children regulate, relax and feel ready to return to learning.
